Showa University Entrance Ceremony for the 2018 Academic Year

11 May. 2018

On April 12th, Showa University held their entrance ceremony for the 2018 academic year at Meiji Shrine (Shibuya ward, Tokyo). 598 students from our 4 schools started their first steps toward becoming medical professionals.
The ceremony started at 10:00 AM with an opening performance by the Showa University Orchestra. In his speech, President Koide said that providing medical care requires deeply caring for others in addition to knowledge and skill. He also said that he hoped students would learn a lot, enjoy club activities, and aim to be an excellent medical professional with a rich sense of humanity.
On behalf of the current students, two students also talked about future dorm life, club activities, etc., and offered words of welcome.
At the end of the ceremony, Professor Tatsuru Uchida, a member of the Board of Directors, gave a special lecture titled “Things that change and don’t change about medical care.”
Afterwards, the new freshmen boarded buses and headed straight to the Fujiyoshida campus, where all our freshmen begin their dormitory life surrounded by nature.
