[University Press Release] Working together with AI for Colonoscopy Exam: Accuracy Clearly Revealed at Clinical Site

Digestive Disease Center, Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital(Shin-ei Kudo, Director of department)working together with artificial intelligence (AI) for colonoscopy exam conducted a precise assessment of a clinical trial on more than 700 patients. This clinical study has shown that AI has the ability to predict with an accuracy greater than 90% whether or not a colorectal polyp is a pre-cancerous lesion (adenoma, etc).
The AI was developed in joint medical collaboration research between (Showa University Northern Yokohama Hospital – Graduate School of Information Science, Nagoya University[Professor Kensaku Mori] - Cybernet Systems Co.,Ltd).
The results were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine of the American Medical Association (the impact factor showing the influence of the article is 19.384).
