Seminar on Undergraduate Wellbeing and Resilience by Dr. Ania Korszun

On October 29, the Department of Medical Education and the International Exchange Center co-sponsored a seminar on student wellbeing and resilience with guest speaker Dr. Ania Korszun, Professor of Psychiatry and Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London.
First, Dr. Miyuki Hashimoto, Professor of the International Exchange Center, provided opening remarks to start the seminar. Then, Dr. Shizuma Tsuchiya, Associate Professor of Medical Education, presented on his study examining cultural differences in the concept of “resilience”. Finally, Dr. Korszun discussed her university’s attempt to improve student wellbeing and resilience in her presentation “WellMed: Shaping the undergraduate medical curriculum to promote Wellbeing and Resilience”.
After the presentation, Dr. Miki Izumi, Professor of Medical Education, offered closing remarks and opened the floor to questions. The audience had many questions and a lively discussion was held.
