Since its establishment in 1977, SHOWA Medical University Dental Hospital has contributed to the development of dentistry and medical care while responding to the needs of local residents and society.
In Japan, which has entered a super-aging society, there is a growing awareness of how to live a long, healthy and fulfilling life.
The goal of medical care is now focused not only on prolonging life, but on respect for life and quality of life.
In addition, many research results have shown that maintaining good oral health is useful in preventing recent social problems such as frailty, dementia, and heart disease. Our role is getting bigger and bigger.
In addition, there is an increasing demand for dental treatment under systemic
management for people with various diseases such as cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
Furthermore, the needs for dental treatment are diversifying, such as early prevention of occlusion, transparent orthodontic appliances, implants, and jaw deformity surgery.
As you know, the latest and best treatment must be carried out by a team of dentists and medical staff who have specialized skills based on solid scientific evidence.
In order to meet various needs and provide advanced medical care, our hospital has 17 clinical departments with high expertise and 10 medical support, research and training support departments that provide cross-sectional support for them. It also has a department that oversees clinical research and trainee education related to cutting-edge medical technology.
There is also an internal medicine clinic, which supports dental treatment in various situations.
In addition, after establishing a cooperative system so that local dental clinics can introduce patients with peace of mind, we have changed Saturdays to weekdays (from December 2017).
In fiscal 2023, we had 227,392 outpatients and 6,086 inpatients visit our hospital.
SHOWA Medical University's founding philosophy is "consistent sincerity," which means "to confront all challenges with sincerity, and to persevere with that sincerity." Based on this spirit, the philosophy of our clinic aims not only to treat the patient's illness,
but also to provide sincere medical care to eliminate anxiety and worries.
