Director of SHOWA Medical University Fujigaoka Hospital
SHOWA Medical University Fujigaoka Hospital was established in July 1975, with the founding principle of “developing medical practitioners with a sense of mission and contributing to the local community through the provision of health care,” in line with the spirit of Shisei Ikkan (contributing to society with absolute sincerity and dedication), which is the original motto of SHOWA Medical University.
Located in the northern part of Yokohama City, Fujigaoka Hospital is one of the core hospitals in the area that it serves.
In order to effectively fulfill this role, our institution must possess all necessary resources and competencies to allow us to provide advanced medical care constantly.
To achieve this goal, the entire staff of Fujigaoka Hospital must work together to improve the institution’s overall capabilities, in addition to having all the necessary facilities and equipment. This is how our institution can best contribute to the local community through the provision of high-quality medical care.
In addition to the conventional specialty-specific treatment of diseases and injuries, Fujigaoka Hospital offers tertiary emergency care through its emergency life-saving center, and also has a separate stroke hotline and a circulatory system hotline to respond to emergency cases 24/7.
Furthermore, our institution constantly seeks to fulfill its function as one of the core medical facilities in the area, as we are designated as a “regional medical care support hospital,” which is the main component of each region’s self-sufficiency in the provision of medical care. As such, Fujigaoka Hospital provides various specialized medical treatments and advanced examinations, surgeries, and other services that are difficult to perform at local clinics and other health facilities, and is committed to contributing to local medical care in the region, while cooperating and coordinating with other medical associations in the area.
For this purpose, Fujigaoka Hospital has set up a Regional Medical Care Coordination Center and Integrated Support Center as internal departments.
As we are also a designated hospital for assisting regional cancer treatment, we offer specialized cancer therapy, participate in the development of a coordinated and cooperative cancer treatment network in the region, and provide consultation, support, and relevant information to cancer patients.
The management and all staff at SHOWA Medical University Fujigaoka Hospital, in addition to Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital, are dedicated to fulfilling our professional duties by maintaining and improving our institution’s functions, especially with respect to medical safety and infection prevention, and also by exercising leadership in research and providing cutting-edge medical care and services as a major university hospital.
