Message -Director of Showa University Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital-

I have been serving as Director of Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital since my appointment in April 2016.
Before becoming head of the neurology department at Fujigaoka Hospital five years ago, I had dedicated my entire career to providing clinical care, teaching students, and conducting research. In the initial stage of my managerial experience, I quickly became aware of how difficult it is to run medical classes efficiently, but it has been an honor to be suddenly given the greater responsibility of managing the entire operations of Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital.
Although I accepted the appointment without hesitation, I now realize the gravity of the responsibility that comes with the job, especially given my lack of management experience.
I still have much to learn, but I will keep working to fulfil my professional duties, and will seek advice from my predecessors as needed.
Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital is unique as a university hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients across various specialties. Our hospital has general beds in addition to rehabilitation beds for patients in the recovery stage.
By leveraging these distinctive advantages organically, we are committed to providing medical care to all our patients in a safe and sound manner at Fujigaoka Rehabilitation Hospital.
We also have a faculty at Showa University which is closely related to what we do at the hospital, called the School of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences.
In cooperation with the rehabilitation medicine department and other divisions, our hospital serves an important role as a place of learning and practical training for students attending the School, who are aspiring to become physical therapists and occupational therapists.
While applying my experience in neurology, which is closely related to the functions of the human body, I will also work closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Fujigaoka Hospital and seek their advice, to enable the two hospitals to function in a unified and consistent manner.
Finally, I will ensure that our hospital saves lives, improves health and also supports the living of patients, thus fulfilling our mission of Shisei Ikkan (contributing to society with absolute sincerity and dedication) set by the founder of our university.
