2018-2019 Showa University Graduation Ceremony

About Us

On March 7, Showa University 2018-2019 Graduation Ceremony was held at the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall, ushering the beginning of a new life for 568 graduates.
During his address, President Ryohei Koide stated that he expected that the graduates would be able to contribute to society as medical professionals who embody the spirit of “Shisei Ikkan” (Showa University’s motto) in the consideration of others. Furthermore, the student representative reciprocated this sentiment by stating that even when they face walls in society, the strength of cooperating with our colleagues and team medical care that was cultivated at Showa University will help them overcome them as upperclassmen.
In his response, this year’s valedictorian said that based on their unwavering faith in our school’s motto, it is their mission to spread the medical care that they received from Showa University to all of Japan, and then to the rest of the world and offered thanks to those who had supported them so far.
At the ceremony, the Kamijo Award, Alumni Association Award, Kamijo Hatagaoka Award, and Best Student Instructor Award were also awarded to graduates based on their achievements while in school. Also, at the ceremony opening, Ms. Miho Nakazawa, a graduate of Senzoku Gakuin College of Music, which has a collaborative agreement with Showa University, performed on a 12-meter tall/wide pipe organ. Furthermore, at the closing of the ceremony, the Glee Club sang a graduation song and the Cheerleading Club led a cheer for the graduating students, and then a farewell performance by the Orchestra Club and Alumni Association ended the ceremony.
After the graduation ceremony, each school (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing and rehabilitation sciences) held their degree award ceremony and the deans awarded diplomas to each and every student in their school.
