Exchange Agreement with Queen Mary University of London, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry

On November 17, 2022, Showa University School of Medicine and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry concluded an exchange agreement. This marks the 12th exchange agreement by our School of Medicine and first one with a medical school in the United Kingdom. This exchange agreement is the culmination of efforts started by Dr. Ania Korszun (Professor, Centre for Psychiatry), who first visited Showa University in 2018 as guest speaker. Research activities and online student exchange have already been established between QMUL and Showa University, and with this official exchange agreement in place, international exchange can further expand between our medical schools.
The signing ceremony was held as a hybrid event, with Dr. Korszun, Dr. Ali Ajaz (Honorary Clinical Lecturer, Centre for Psychiatry), and Dr. Ian Mackenzie (Emeritus Professor of Stem Cell Science, Blizard Institute) from QMUL attending in person. During the signing ceremony, Professor Miyuki Hashimoto (International Exchange Center) and Professor Korszun first introduced the members of their delegation. Next, Dean Akatsuki Kokaze of Showa University School of Medicine and Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, Vice-Principal for Health at QMUL, signed their copies of the exchange agreement and presented them to the camera for everyone to see. Finally, Professor Takashi Miyazaki (Director, International Exchange Center) offered closing remarks to conclude the signing ceremony.
