Research at the School of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences

Research is being conducted in five fields of life sciences: Brain and neurology, motor function science, life long health science, and liberal arts

Research covering a wide area – including health science, medical care and welfare – is being undertaken at the School of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences. This research pursues issues in health science, nursing, and rehabilitation sciences to support various lifestyles including health, health disorder, and recovery from the damage. Thus, the research challenges themes in human structure and function, and in people's health and lifestyle from both microscopic and macroscopic standpoints.

Research methodology includes not only that of natural science, but also social science and liberal arts. The research organization divides the staff into five areas for mutual collaboration and stimulation. The five areas are life sciences, brain and neurology, motor function science, life long health science, and liberal arts. Staff specializing in various areas such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, basic medicine, clinical medicine, pharmacy, information science, philosophy and languages, participate with their own research topics.

The School of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences publishes "SHOWA Medical University Journal of Nursing and Rehabilitation Sciences", with the cooperation of reviewers from within and also outside the school to achieve a highly respected journal. Also, to evaluate the ethical aspect of research, an ethics committee has been established.
