1)Your health insurance card and applicable medical care subsidy certificate(s)
2)Referral issued by your family physician or other medical institution, addressed to this hospital
3)Passport or other valid personal identification document
Note: If you are visiting the hospital without a referral, go to Q2.
Q2. Do I absolutely need to have a referral to receive outpatient service?
As part of our general policy, the Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital receives first-time patients based on a referral from other medical institutions including hospitals and clinics. You can still receive outpatient service without a referral, but we collect a Selective Medical Care Charge of 5,500 yen (tax included) from outpatients without a referral.
Q3. Do I need to make an appointment to see the doctor?
You can be seen by our doctors without an appointment, but patients with appointments will be given priority and therefore those without an appointment may have to wait for a long time before they can be seen.
Q4. How can I pay my medical fee?
Refer to the following page.
Q5. I do not have a health insurance card. What can I do?
If you are not enrolled in a national health insurance program, you must pay the total cost of the medical service performed. In that case, the medical fee you need to pay is 20 times the medical service remuneration points reported to the health insurance program.
