Q3. Is car parking available?
Yes, but the capacity is limited (210 cars in Showa University Hospital and 40 cars in Showa University East Hospital) and you may have to wait for a long time before a parking space becomes available. We recommend use of public transportation when visiting the hospital.

Parking charge
The first 30 minutes is free of charge. Thereafter, 250 yen will be charged for every 30 minutes of parking. -
Note: If you have a Physical Disability Certificate, present it at the General Reception or at the nearby security post together with your parking ticket. You will get a full exemption of all the parking charge.
Q4. Are there bank ATMs in the hospital?
A multiple-bank ATM is available in Lawson on the first floor of the East Hospital.

Q5. Are nursing rooms available?
Yes. Nursing rooms are provided on the 3rd and 4th floors of the Showa University Hospital central building and also to the side of the patient elevator hall on the first floor of the Showa University East Hospital.
Q6. Can I use a mobile phone in the hospital?
As a general rule, no. Turn off the power of your mobile phone except when it is absolutely necessary to have the phone power on. If you need to have your mobile phone power on for some reason, make sure to set it to the “manner mode (vibrator mode)” or silent mode.
Q7. Do you have wheelchairs available for use?
Yes, we provide wheelchairs for use in the hospital. Go to the General Reception and ask the attendant.
Q8. I think I lost/misplaced a personal item. What can I do?
Contact the following if you think you have lost or misplaced something in the hospital. Items found in the hospital will be stored for a period of three months from the day they are found.

Q9. Are there smoking areas in the hospital?
No. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the hospital premises.
Q10. Do you provide language interpretation service or can you help me find an interpreter?
No, we provide neither interpretation service nor assistance in finding an interpreter. If you need interpretation service, arrange for an interpreter before visiting the hospital.

About outpatient services

Q1. I am visiting the hospital for the first time as an outpatient. Tell me what I should bring for admission.
1)Your health insurance card and applicable medical care subsidy certificate(s)
2)Referral issued by your family physician or other medical institution, addressed to this hospital
You can still receive outpatient service even if you do not have a referral. Note that some of our departments and specialties offer outpatient service by appointment only.
Q2. I do not feel well but I do not know which department or specialty of the hospital to go to.
Ask at the New Patient Registration counter when you visit the hospital.

Q3. Do I need to make an appointment to see the doctor?
As a general rule, yes. Try to make an appointment before visiting the hospital. Outpatients without an appointment may have to wait for a long time or may even fail to see the doctor. (Outpatient service at Neuropsychiatry and Rheumatology/Clinical Immunology is by appointment only.)

Q5. I do not have a health insurance card. What can I do?
Outpatients without a health insurance card must pay the total cost of the medical service performed.
Q6. How much must I pay?
The amount of outpatient service fee depends on your condition and the types of tests and treatments performed.
