About outpatient services

Close all
Q1. I am visiting the hospital for the first time as an outpatient. Tell me what I should bring for admission.
1)Your health insurance card and applicable medical care subsidy certificate(s)
2)Referral issued by your family physician or other medical institution, addressed to this hospital
Note: If you are visiting the hospital without a referral, go to Q2
Q2. Do I absolutely need to have a referral to receive outpatient service?
The primary mission of this hospital is to provide advanced and specialized medical cares to patients and therefore, as a general rule, we accept outpatients with a referral only. To promote greater efficiency and coordination among medical institutions in providing medical services for people who need them the most, we request all first-time patients to bring a referral (patient referral document) from other medical institutions.
Q3. What kind of clothes should I wear when I am examined by the doctor?
Come in clothes that are easy to move in, with sufficient room around the arms, the torso and the legs.
Q4. I heard that the outpatient ophthalmology clinic is especially crowded. About how long will the wait time be?
It usually takes two to three hours before all the consultation and examination steps are completed. The exact time varies depending on your condition and what types of tests or treatments are performed. When multiple tests or treatments are involved, it may take as long as four hours.
Q5. I heard that my eyes would be very sensitive to light after receiving eye dilation examination (with special eyedrops to open the pupil) at the ophthalmology clinic. How long does this light sensitivity last?
It usually takes about four to five hours until the effect wears off, but it may vary from person to person. Eye dilation is a very common technique that is used in ophthalmic examination and testing.
You will not be able to drive a car by yourself for four or five hours after receiving eye dilation. When you are visiting our ophthalmology clinic, do not come in driving your car. Use public transportation to come to the hospital.
You will also probably be prone to tripping over stairs or bumps on the floor after eye dilation. Wear shoes that are the safest and most comfortable to walk in.
Q6. Do I need to make an appointment to see the doctor?
You can still see a doctor without an appointment, but patients with appointments will be given priority. We recommend making an appointment by telephone before visiting the hospital. Even first-time patients can make an appointment with us if they have a referral (patient referral document) from other medical institutions.
Q7. How can I pay my medical care fee?
Refer to the following page.
Q8. I do not have a health insurance card. What can I do?
Outpatients without a health insurance card must pay the total cost of the medical service performed.
