What to prepare when visiting the hospital
Health insurance card or health insurance beneficiary card, applicable medical care subsidy certificate(s) (elderly medical service recipient card, physical disability certificate, etc.), and referral (patient referral document) issued by another medical institution (hospitals, clinics, etc.).

Reception
Enter the building through the front entrance, and go to the New Patient Registration/Regional Medical Referral Counter. If you are a revisiting patient, use one of the Return Visit Check-in machines.1

Receive an examination reception ticket and go to the floor where the applicable clinic is.

Wait on the sofas near the patient guidance display in the vicinity of the consultation room specified on your reception ticket (this is the outer waiting area).
When the patient reception number printed on your examination reception ticket starts flashing on the patient guidance display, enter the clinic’s inner waiting area.

- Wait on the sofa in front of the specified consultation room.
- The patient reception number will be shown individually for each consultation room (separately for first-time and revisiting patients and for each attending physician).

Consultation and examination
When your name is called, enter the consultation room to see the doctor. Firstly, check with the doctor that you are the correct patient named.4

- At the end of the consultation/examination session, make your next appointment with the doctor as required.
If an appointment is made for further consultation/examination or testing, make sure to receive the Basic Outpatient Care Plan sheet. - Also, receive the prescription for your medication from the doctor.

Paying the fee
Go to the payment counter. Present your patient registration card and other required documents to pay your bill.5

Obtaining medication
As a general rule, your medication must be obtained from an external pharmacy according to the doctor’s prescription. The prescription is valid for four days including the date of issue. Present the prescription, within four days from the issue date, to a dispensing pharmacy approved by the national health insurance system to obtain the medication.6

Notes:
- The prescription is valid at any dispensing pharmacy, not only those near the hospital but also those near your home or work.
- Some special medications can only be internally dispensed.
If you have received prescription for an internally dispensed medication, go to the medication dispensing counter in the hospital (on the 2nd basement floor of the central building) to receive your medication.
