Information

Before seeing a doctor

As a general rule, all first-time patients require to submit a referral (patient referral document) issued by another medical institution (hospitals, clinics, etc.).
We are a large scale hospital with a bed capacity of over 200 and therefore have responsibility to promote functional division from primary care services (division between acute and chronic medical cares). First-time patients without a referral must pay a Selective Medical Care Charge of 5,500 yen in addition to the consultation and examination fees covered by health insurance, on the ground that medical service by this hospital has been “selectively” provided based on the patient’s preference.

In some circumstances, you may be deemed a first-time patient even if you have previously been seen at our hospital before, in which case the Selective Medical Care Charge applies.
Patients who do not have a referral (patient referral document) issued by another medical institution must pay a Selective Medical Care Charge of 5,500 yen (tax included) if any of the following 1 to 4 applies:

  1. Patient who is visiting the hospital for the first time
  2. Patient who is visiting the hospital again after his or her previous treatment program ended
  3. Patient who is visiting the hospital again after his or her previous treatment program was suspended due to the patient’s personal reasons
  4. When the patient is otherwise deemed to be a first-time patient by the doctor
